Sephora's little secret...
This is my favorite Sephora tip that honestly not enough people know about
I learned this tip from working with Sephora over the years. It’s not a secret, just one that people seem to overlook? I can’t figure out why…
Sephora Collection is Sephora’s generic brand.
Does it have wildly cute packaging and aesthetic? no.
Are the products created and manufactured side by side, in the same labs and factories as the top selling brands that are also sold at Sephora? Yes.
Years ago as a new mom I was stuck on the idea of buying only Huggies brand diapers. Later I learned that the Costco’s generic brand “Kirkland Signature” diaper was exactly the same thing— just sold without the Huggies name brand packaging and they cost significantly less. (this rule applies to many Costco brand products)
and also- Sephora Collection.
That’s what Sephora Collection is. Sephora KNOWS that it needs to produce high quality products because it’s customers know what the good stuff is. They work with the same labs as their top selling, top performing brands. But they create a Sephora Collection version and put it in SC packaging.
Do not get me wrong, I love a name brand- aesthetic moment. I love buying THAT product that went viral and everyone is using. But for times where you really don’t need the *extra-extra*, Sephora Collection has some pretty incredible offerings.
Let’s go through some Sephora Collection products that I buy over and over.
During the Sephora Savings Event ALL of the Sephora Collection products are 30% off for everyone regardless of your Sephora Status. This is when I stock up!
Sephora Collection PRO Brushes - You will not find a higher quality brush collection at a cheaper price. Especially during the sale. Makeup Artists swear by SC brushes and if you see someone using SC brushes you can always give them a look like “okkkk you KNOW that these are the good-good ones”.
Mini Pro Foundation Brush 70.5
ProConcealer 71, Mini Pro Foundation 70.5 & ProPowder Brush #50 Eye brow pencil from SC - I love their shade options and especially since I use this daily— the price cannot be beat! Full price $13 but during the sale $9.10. Fantastic - I’ll take 15 of them
My favorite brow pencil is from ILIA Beauty and I have gone through at least 5 of them. Honestly, the SC eyebrow pencil is incredibly similar! I would'’t be able to tell the difference because they basically wear the same and have a similar formula.
Immediately bought the SC Color Twister Lip + Cheek sticks. It reminds me of my favorite lip and cheek jelly sticks from Milk Makeup — Is this Sephora’s version of the viral makeup product that continually sells out? Looks like a fun affordable alternative!
I’ll test this out see and how it stacks up.
Color Twister Color Changing Oil-in-Stick for Lip + Cheek 4. Makeup Setting Spray can make or BREAK a look. I’m also the queen of smudging my makeup on white clothes… but when I use a setting spray the dreaded smudge doesn’t happen. I also love a LIGHT makeup look. So even though I’m not going full glam I still want me makeup to stay on. I have been using the Urban Decay Makeup Setting Mist but this one from SC is quite similar!
And its $16— with the extra 30% off it’s $11!!! This feels like stealing.
Sephora Colorful® Powder Luminizer - I first saw this and thought how much it reminds me of my favorite Charlotte Tilbury highlighter and then realized it also looks alot like the Rare Beauty pressed powder highlighter. Either way this luminizer is beautiful and I love to apply this on the high points of my face. I have also used it as a shimmer eyeshadow.
You’ll notice this is primarily makeup. I will be honest- I haven’t truly fallen in love with enough of the SC skincare to include in this post. However, I will be buying some since it’s also 30% off and I have been slacking on trying their new skincare launches.
As I always, please comment here and let me know if you have ever tried any of the SC collection and what your thoughts are. I love when the comment section because one big group chat about beauty. That is always the goal!
xx Alexa
One of my favorite Sephora brand items is their cotton squares, so much better than the little circles you usually find. They're big enough to take off all my makeup with micellar water, nail polish, anything you use cotton rounds for ~ these are better. When they make them reuseable, they'll be perfect!!
Thank you for the tips. ❤️
